HHV Reviews: Dhundu Rasta by Satayagraha

Satyagraha’s "Dhundu Rasta" enters the Hindi indie-pop scene with undeniably high production value and earnest delivery, but it adheres perhaps too strictly to genre conventions. The song’s central theme of all-consuming love and intense longing is conveyed powerfully through the highly effective, anchoring hook.

Ankit Jain's vocals are passionate and the overall delivery is a clear strength of the song, driving the emotional cores highHowever, the track struggles to break free from the modern romantic-rock template. While the "driving rock-infused backdrop" is technically crisp and polished, it features a predictable chord progression and structure.

This lack of instrumental risk is most noticeable during the guitar solo, where the execution is clean but the guitar tone itself sounds slightly sterile and lacks the raw, emotional grit needed to truly match the song's passion.

Not all is bad about the song, in fact lyrically the song is rich, it provides an emotional core element which is critical when diving into the world of love songs. The production quality, music video everything about this debut single is high-quality work. If we don't dive into the nitty gritty of certain aspects then for a regular listener the song is pretty good!

The only drawback is the band's adherence to the formula and the safe instrumental choices which make the song commercially accessible but risk diminishing its long-term memorability.

However, 'Dhundu Rasta' is a just the beginning for Satyagraha's musical journey and we're excited what's next for this band. They clearly have the skill in crafting a song that is both commercially accessible and emotionally resonant, and we look forward to hearing more from their portfolio.
